How to Drink Wine and Loose Weight?
There’s been a lot of chat about wine’s potential to help with weight loss in the media in recent years. While it almost sounds too good to be true, there’s a glimmer of hope for wine lovers who still want to keep the extra pounds at bay. It turns out there may just be some truth in the headlines. How? Let’s find out.
How does wine help with the weight Loss?
According to recent studies, early indications show that drinking white wine might help with weight loss. It has the added benefit of having overall fewer calories than red wine and dry Champagne has still fewer. As you may know, Champagne comes in a range of sweetness levels.
An Extra Brut or Brut Champagne (or Cava, and other sparkling wines) can have anywhere between 0-6 and 0-12 grams of residual sugar per litre. Less sugar equals fewer calories. We all know the more sugar and sweets we cram into our mouths, the more likely we’ll end up putting on an extra stone (or few). So if you’re watching your waistline, a nice dry white wine or brut bubbly will help you stick to your goals.
What about red wine? Scientists think that red wine also has its own potential to aid in weight loss. Remember that headline from a while back which claimed: “a glass of wine before bed may help you lose weight?” This is based on the fact that antioxidant and phenolic-rich red wine helps block your body from absorbing all of the fats you’ve taken in during the day. Just remember that it’s a glass, not the whole bottle. As always, the key is in moderation.
So while dieting may require cutting back on your favourite take-aways, crisps, and sweets, it doesn’t mean you need to give up a glass of wine with dinner or at the end of the night. Brilliant.
